Hey y'all! I'm in my second semester of my RN program. If I pass this semester I am just going to get by with a C (the bare minimum in our program). I also did not do very well in clinicals either. I'm basically on probation for my skills for next semester. Has anyone else been in this situation, and what did you do? Does it make a bad student? Or a bad nurse?

What are you struggling in?
Have you reached out to your instructors as soon as you don't understand anything? Do you practice regularly in the skills lab?
Being a nurse, at least a consistently competent one, is knowing one's limitations and having the awareness to seek out resources to obtain the information and to master it.
If you are practicing NCLEX questions, seeking out tutoring or resources from instructors as soon as you don't understand the information, in the skills lab and have recommended reading along with the required reading material, then you my have to alter how you revive information; you may be an auditory or visual or kinesthetic learner; you may need to apply all depending on the material and the situation.
Best wishes.

The reason you are "in this situation" is your own making. Only you can get yourself out. If you become a nurse are your patients going to receive C level care? Apparently you want this to be your career so you may want to learn and develop good work habits now. If you are studying non stop and getting Cs then you may not be capable of passing. If you are slacking then you need to study more. It is pretty simple and totally up to you. It seems the majority of the time people simply are not working hard enough. If you want the big time and decent money you have to earn it.
