Just Nursing courses?

Did anyone go to Nursing school with just the "Nursing" core to complete? I've got an offer to go to a 2 year RN program, and after advisement due to my previous degree and coursework I only have the nursing portion to complete. This also means I will be part-time for some semesters due to course credit. Has anyone done this? Did you find it manageable to work and go to school with less of an academic load?

My generic BSN program had RN's in the program who only had to attend nursing courses for two semesters out of the total of eight semesters. All of them worked and most, as I recall, had families. None of them complained about any problems.

Awesome, thank you for sharing!

I did that. My previous courses were all accounted for as "science" part but I still had about 10 or so credits taken as "electives". I re-did pharm because I just freaking love it, and covered the electives with graduate level courses.

What you need to watch out is that some scholarships and some other things which can be either potentially useful or just pleasant (like President's list and such) only apply to full time students. If you do not want it, you may go part time and do whatever you like with the time on your hands.

Fantastic! Thanks for the heads up. Being part time definitely messes with Aid opportunities but It kind of evens out in the end for me. That's awesome that you got to take some graduate level courswork to fill in :)

My school only starts the ADN Program every fall. After I finished my required pre-reqs (A&P1&2, Micro....) I went ahead and did all of my core classes(english,psych,nutrition,algebra...)

I'm so glad I did that because now I only have two nursing classes each semester plus my clinical. I'm able to work part time, have plenty of time to study and still enjoy my life without having to feel like I constantly have something to do.

Like me, you definitely have an advantage over some of the other students! Enjoy it
