Just got my ACT score back

I am totally against everything teetering on these "bubble timed" tests.

The ACT/SAT was never ever meant to be what it is today.

When I was in elementary school, I was given a standardized test that said I was mentally retarded. I was put into classes for the mentally "disabled". My parents fought to have me put into normal classes.

Later it was found that I needed glasses.

Then, MENSA came back with a differant score!

I was born without normal depth perception, so the bubble tests are very difficult for me. I made a 7 on the Math part of the ACT (a totally score of 16). That silly test has followed me everwhere.

Although I maintained a 100% GPA, that stupid test counts for more!!

A 26 on the ACT test is really good. Good Job and Good Luck!!!

I agree, Kyriaka. I live in Texas where T isn't for Texas anymore....it's for Tests! lol

I never took the ACT, but took the SAT in high school. Of course now, the grading has changed; the scores are higher. So, it makes mine look REALLY bad!!! :chair:

Thank goodness your parents fought with the school to put you into normal classes and that you found out you needed glasses! Being labelled as slow or developmentally disabled when you are not is a hard label to shed, especially when you are growing up! At least now you know what you're up against! And you know you're no dummy!

I truly believe that this is not that uncommon.

My Hematologist is a PHD and MD. He used to teach Microbiology at George Washington University. He was told that he just needed to go to trade school!

I have a friend who is deaf who was told in middle school that there was no way she could be a vet because she is deaf!

My mother has her degrees in Economics and Math and also scored low on the ACT (she has the same eye condition as me).

My dad would score a 0 on the ACT because he is legally blind. However, he has a PHD in Mathematics and Physics and is no dummy!

It really is a racket. The ACT is a for profit organization that has convinced schools that they can predict how well someone will do in college. But if cannot measure motivation!

i bet your dad would do fine if he tried! my brother is legally blind and he got a 19 when he was 12 and 22 when he was 15.

i've been told 26 is good, doesn't it suck to play the 'was i good enough' game? i took a duke talent search sponsored ACT in 7th grade and i got a 21, but i took it this year (sophomore in high school) and i got a 26 too, with writing.

is regular score taken out of 30 or 36? the way i read the pamphlet was that they make it out of 36 for the writing, but 30 for just multiple choice.

I believe the composite score still ranges from 1 to 36. I took the ACT during my sophomore year of high school (many years ago) and the writing portion was not required.
