How long did it take to leave work without the feeling you forgot something? :) just curious! I do bc I am new!

I've been practicing for nearly 8 years, and I STILL leave work with that feeling occasionally.

I've found that making myself a checklist of what I need to accomplish before the end of my shift helps.

I have been working in LTC (first nursing job) for a month now. I still leave work a little antsy wondering what I must have forgotten to chart or document that shift... as the previous poster mentioned, I've gotten into the habit of writing down the handful of "guaranteed daily" responsibilities into a little checklist when I arrive every day and I make sure to check everything off before I leave. Granted, some days things happen that would require more paper work than usual, and those days I have to re-check my work a couple of times.

When in doubt, ask! Luckily I have a brilliant and helpful shift manager so I never feel incompetent when double-checking with her that I documented/checked off/wrote up everything necessary...

Lucky to have a manager who understands and s/he needs to complimented for it.

I found a trick to help remember - do a run-thru when you're in your car before you leave. I found it helps to clear your head when you're away from all the beeps & boops and people.

Make the habit of carrying a pocket book with u...and note things u feel as important....it will help u overcome such problems to an extend..
