jury duty

What do travelers do about jury duty? I just got a jury summons in the county of my tax home, but I will be on an assignment when I'm supposed to be there.

    The jury summons should contain information on how to handle this. It's usually a phone number that you can call to get excused.. it may be an automated system. Travelling for work is a righteous excuse, along with having to care for dependents/small children, being a convicted felon or diagnosed as mentally ill... can you tell I get summoned frequently?

    My agency had their legal dept. draft a letter which they will send to the court explaining the work situation. I just faxed them the notice and they took it from there. I was excused.
