Job question

I am in my last semester of nursing school and I am wondering if any of you could tell me how soon i should start applying for a job. Also if any of you could give me suggestions on how to make myself more marketable over someone else. thank you for your feedback -Very tired student.

Start applying NOW. Depending on where you live, it is very hard to find a job right now - especially for new grads. Took me 4 months when I graduated. If you are doing your preceptorship now and like the floor you're on, make sure you let it know to your preceptor that you would like to work on the floor and ask them what you could do to make it happen. Frankly, getting your first job will probably be about networking and knowing someone who can give you a leg up on competition so having a nurse friend who can give you a good recommendation is a great start.

If you can now snag a NA or PCT job part-time, do it

That's exactly how I wound up getting offered a job for after graduation in the 5th month of my 12 month program. :D

It isn't easy and it sure does take it's toll if you're not diligent with self-care and studies... but it's probably THE easiest way to secure a job for after graduation. Plus, you get to know the facility and the staff and that helps with the 'new nurse' feelings.
