Job fair

I'm attending a job fair in a few days with on the spot interviews & hiring..

there are MANY positions open.. it says new RNs are welcome

I have 0 RN experience

My question is they are going to ask me : Where/what position would you like to be in?

I know what I would LIKE ... however I am realistic and know that I am on the bottom of the totem pole.. I would love to be in and ED, or intensive care area... which they have many many positions open in.. Do I tell them that.. or do I give them the generic "I'd be comfortable anywhere" and hope they place me somewhere.

I don't want to seem overly-confident or picky when saying I want one of those positions.. I know many nurses work many years to get into those positions so the chances are slim, anyway..

Please be honest and do not waste their time. Pick one area and put your career objective on your resume. You dont want to appear indecisive. Dress in business casual. Make eye contact shake hands and smile.

You want them to know that if they invest 50k in training you that you will be there long enough for them to recoup that investment.

If they mention med surg be sure ask about ratios.

Good advice! I would even go so far as to say to dress in business professional (skirt/jacket/suit).

Thank you for the suggestion! I was going to wear dress slacks with a grey top that has an attached jacket on it. but I may change that to a shirt with dress jacket.

Are black heels appropriate or should I stick to flats?

Yes, heels are fine - closed toe is preferable, and wear hose.
