Jan 7, 201412 yr Does anyone have any experience with the clinical rotation for the part time nursing program at JSCC? I'm curious as to the clinical schedule...
Jan 22, 201412 yr Do the instructors test on lecture material only or ANYTHING in the book?Anything related to the topic. You will learn very quickly that you have to be very disciplined in doing work yourself at home. It isn't anything to cover one topic for an hour in class and it be 160 pages in the book.
Jan 23, 201412 yr Author Wow! How do you remember the material if you barely have time to read it once before the quiz?
Jan 24, 201412 yr Wow! How do you remember the material if you barely have time to read it once before the quiz?No quizzes, just test. And it takes lots and lots of studying. And not all test cover that many pages.
Jan 24, 201412 yr Author You are so kind to get on here and answer these questions! What do you recommend as the most effective study techniques?
Jan 27, 201412 yr You are so kind to get on here and answer these questions! What do you recommend as the most effective study techniques?MCLEX practice questions and lots of them! There are tons of different books you can use but they will help you get in the practice of figuring out which is the MOST correct answer. Because in nursing school, every answer is right....but there is one that is MOST right. Study groups (3-5 people at the most!) are extremely helpful to talk through thoughts with and explain concepts you don't understand.
Jan 28, 201412 yr Thanks a ton for all the info!Glad I can help. Feel free to private message me any more questions you have. I'll be happy to answer them for you.
Mar 17, 201412 yr Author Anyone that has completed the final semester of the part time program at Jeff State, for the preceptor class, are there lecture exams too or is it only preceptor? Thanks!
Jul 10, 201510 yr I know this thread is old, but i'm hoping someone can help me out. I am about to start the n/w program and I am wondering when clinicals are. I know they start the 2nd semester, but are they only on weekends? if so, are they during the day or at night? I need to find out to see about my work schedule. Also about how many clinicals per semester can I expect?

I know they start the 2nd semester, but are they only on weekends? if so, are they during the day or at night? I need to find out to see about my work schedule. Also about how many clinicals per semester can I expect? It depends. I had clinicals on Saturday some semesters and other semesters they were during the week from 3-11. It just depends on your instructor and what hospital you are placed at.
Jan 15, 201610 yr I had planned on applying for the full time program in Pell City and my wife go full time once I graduated but it seems like it make work best financially for me and my wife to go part time together. Since then I have talked to a few nursing students at the Pell City campus and they have said that the full time program at PC is much better and that it is tough but still not as tough as the part time program. One girl told me that she was in the FT program and her mother was in the PT program and her mother was having to learn more in depth/harder material than she was. I'm trying to see how true this is and if I should be rethinking my plan. Any info given would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Mar 14, 201610 yr I am trying to decide between the Jefferson and Shelby campuses for the part time program, but was curious to wether anyone had any info that could help me with the decision. I've heard rumors that the Jefferson campus had a higher pass rate of the program, but also had a higher fail rate of the NCLEX. Does anyone know if any of this is true? Also, does anyone know who has the better instructors? I'm sure having good instructors vs bad instructors would weigh heavily on how well you did in the program.
