I dont know. I was told first of June...I believe same time as traditional RN. Since pre reqs and everything are the same. But I wish they would hurry up. LOL

Just texted one of the medics and she says y'all wont hear back til after 6/15

Well I sure hope it is before that! Lol since final grades posted today but who knows :/ oh well ive waited this long whats another month right?! Lol my RT app has been in longer then the nursing app so it has been a killer wait too!

Thanks for the insight tho! :)

What prereqs did u have to take for the RT program? Was there a TEASV? How do they vase their scoring?

Yes you still have to take the TEAS V. They take your total score though not sub section scores. So if you scored an 80 you get 80 points. Also they weight ALL your pre-reqs. There are no co-reqs for RT. You have to have pretty much the same classes. With the except of the second psych and you only havr to have math 118 but I was taking 136 so it is a fine substitute obviously. I think there might be one more class you dont need that you have to have for nursing. Maybe the second english. But I cant remember.

Oh and you can get D's and still get in. Not sure that anyone gets in with d's but you dont have to maintain C's.

That's awesome. I've been seriously considering the RT program after I graduate from the ASN next May. I think it would be excellent to have dual certifications.

Also, already being an LPN in the ED, I work with so many medics and we have near identical roles except I can initiate and monitor blood transfusions while the medic can perform EJ's and intubations- it really makes me want to pursue a medic license too (sadly the pay is too poor).

Ugh and then there's the need to get a BSN at some point down the line...

Do u ever feel like you're going to be a life long student?

Yes.i do feel like I am going to be a life long student. Yes medic pay sucks! Been in EMS for 9 years. But I didnt get in it for the money. I absolutely LOVE it. Now nursing. Im doing for the money. Thats just the cold hard truth but I will.stay dual licensed. Better pay in most ER'S. I have a friend who is an RT who was in my medic class. She loves it....I really wanna do flight nurse/medic. But if I got accepted into both programs I would choose RN because it is only a year long and RT is 2 years. My mom is RN and was an LPN before that. I am glad to see though you can appreciate all fields for what everyone can do! Not alll nurses can!

Do you mind me asking where you work. I have some medic friends who work in ER'S in Indy.

I'll send u a private message

Oh lol, misunderstood what you wrote. I'm pretty sure it didn't help me either, but a friend of mine from 201 had her score go up a % or so after it got weighed. Think she applied with a 179, but her and I were the only RN-hopefuls that I can recall. Other than that, I know a few scores have been put up on the ivy tech site.

I'll be going in to the nursing department tomorrow to update a few things, gonna try and find out scores and numbers too while I'm there.
