I just had orientation today for the nursing program and they said I need a gait belt...why in the world i would need to buy that?

Probably to make you practice during simulation days. You surely wouldn't be bringing that to clinical.

You might need to bring it to clinicals. The long term care center/transitional care unit we are doing clinicals at requires the CNAs and students to have their own belts....and they are hard to "borrow" when you need them. Lots of transferring going on in those settings. Lots of the students are doing work similar to CNAs when their clinical site is at LTC or TCU. It helps to bring your own BP cuff, scissors, tape measure, light pen...basically everything you may need to use!
