Is applying 2 multiple schools a given?

I am only applying to one, as it's the only affordable accelerated BSN in my area, and they go by GPA only so like you, I know mine is more than competitive. I have a 3.8 and they typically go as low as 3.4-3.5, so I'm not really worried. On the other hand, you never know how your semester will average out, and they only take 24 people. 9/10 points sounds good, but of course it depends on how many people your program takes and how good the applying class is each time. Maybe I'm crazy too, but if that's normally more than good enough you should be fine. If there are interviews and essays and other subjective stuff, then multiple applications are probably a good idea. That's the one nice thing about points/GPA systems, you know exactly where you stand and what your chances are. Good luck, and hopefully you don't need it!

No matter how sure in you think you are ALWAYS apply to other colleges. The applicant pool in every class is different, and schools are seeing higher and higher grades every year.

On the off-chance you don't get in, the ship will have sailed on a Plan B.

I'll put it like this, I applied to SIX schools and got into one.

I think it was the best one though.

I only applied to one (a local CC). For me, it was the only choice available and I was fortunate to get in!

I applying for FALL 07 semester in my school. On the scale or point system it uses, I am on 9 points out of a max of 10. Only 1st degree holders can get the max of 10. My advisor said I am on very good footing to get in at 1st attempt.

She also advised I apply to a couple of others just because in my own words - nothing is guranteed in that I may not have a heart attack while typing this, however how remote the possiblity is.

What do you guys think? Do I really need to apply to other schools when my chances are bright since addmission is based SOLELY on a point system.

Am I NUTS as many people tell me for not applying to more than 1?

If I had the oppurtunity to apply to more then one school I would, I don't think it causes any harm to have a back up plan just in case, if you have other schools you would consider then go for it.

I am only applying to one because there is only one school close enough to me where the clinicals would be a drivable distance in my situation.

When I received my rejection letter I was very suprised and disappointed, but I was also very glad that I still had time to apply to other schools. So, determined to get in somewhere for 2007, I applied to 6 more schools. It's a nuisance but worth it to get what you want. Although, I must add that if I had a 9 out of 10 point score and there were more than 5 openings, I probably would not sweat it either (unless you are in my position of having to get in ASAP)

i am striving for a 4.0 but I am still no sure if I will get in there are only 12 spots 10 of which they take on GPA 2 on lottery, and over 200 people apply every semester they say. I just live in an area where there are no schools around and worse yet no hospitals to do clinicals or very limited I should say. So even if I commuted to school I would have to to commute even further to do their clinicals which I just can't do at this point in my life.

I would apply to another school if that is an option, just because you have no idea how many other people also have 9/10 and are competing for that one slot. Of course, only you are in a position of knowing how competitive your school is. I wish you good luck and hope you get the position you are wishing for.

My options for me now is limited to ADN program because of cost issues. If money was not an issue, there are no other ADN programs in my county meaning I would have to drive long distances for earky morning classes and 8 O'Clock classes/practicals. That doesn't really appeal to me. Don't want to be at risk of being hit by drunk or always being tensed up just bearly arriving on time.

I'll look into a 4 yr college that has an ADN program in my county though if it not more than a 30 min drive.

It's not always a given. I applied to one school and thank God, I got accepted. Some people apply to others to see what their options are. Financial aid, distance, prereqs, high school and college grades, etc. are all factors that lie in how many and which schools folks apply to. I've heard of folks applying to 5 schools and then some people's hearts are devoted to just one place. To each his own, I guess. Good luck!
