I have to interview 3 types of nurses for a class assingment. I have many nurses I can ask these questions to, like flight nurses, travel nurses, NICU and manager etc. There has to be 5 thought provoking questions and answers. This will be presented to entering nurses to give them a better idea of what they are doing. I am at a complete lose as to questions. HELP?! What would be some questions you would want answered when you started out in nursing school if you had the chance to ask any nurses? I have the basic questions of why did you want to become a nurse lol and most answers are the same. I have why did you pick your exact area of practice. What is a crazy day like for you. There is no real grade for this, I just want to provide the best information to first semester students. TIA

What about things like:
1) What does school NOT prepare you for?
2) In your experience with new-grads, what do they seem to be missing?
3) As a now seasoned nurse, what did you think nursing was while in school versus what you now know it to be while working?

Number one misconception from new grads about the specialty--like what they join the specialty expecting that isn't at all a reality.

1. When did you finally feel like you were comfortable with your assessments
2. What do you do to prevent burn-out?
3. How do you celebrate holidays with your family when you are working the holiday.

1) If a new graduate wanted to specialize in your area after completing nursing school, what path and/or how much experience would you recommend for that person?
2) Tell me about a time when you didn't know an answer to something while working. How did you get through it?
These are all gold! I really appreciate all the very helpful input so far!! This was exactly what I needed to move this mental block. Thank you!
