Interview THIS THURSDAY!

Published

Specializes in LTC/Sub Acute Rehab.

Hello all!,

Im currently a LTC nurse in the ATL Metro Area with 4 years of clinical experience including corrections; I worked briefly at Phillips State Prision. It wasnt a bad experience, just hard to get used to initially. I learned how to "work it" very quickly and gained the respect of the inmates probably bc I wasn't easily intimidated (I just didn't let it show). Anyhoo, I have an interview for a position at the county jailthis thursday and Im wondering what will be asked at my interview and how can I "shine" to be a "shoe in" for the position. I will easily take the position for the MUCH NEEDED CHANGE in scenery plus to gain some new skills. What I also need to know is: how does the job differ in the "jail" versus the "prision." When I worked at the prision, I worked with the mental health and segreated population. I never had any problems and I am not scared now or then cause I know I can hold my own; but, what should I expect with the interview, training, and the actual job. I know have excellent assessment and documentation skills and I pride myself on them. When I worked through the agency at the prision, I didnt have to document anything except for giving the meds on the mar. The interview is with the Correctional Medical Associates for a position at the Fulton County Jail.

Thank you all in advance for all replies!:nurse:

I'm sorry I missed seeing this - tell us how your interview went. There is a thread about possible interview questions on this forum, which might have been of some help. If you remember any of your interview questions, maybe you could add to our list

I had to reschedule. I forgot that I had a standing appointment. I called and left a voicemail x's 3 asking the Nurse Manager to call me back and got no return call. I hope that when the time for my interview came, they weren't waiting for me to show up and then label me as a "no show." I just hope that they listen to their voicemail messages before they leave for the day or at the beginning of the day so my chance of landing the job isnt ruined.

yeah, check out that thread. It was helpful for me.

I was asked why i wanted to work in corrections, if I had any training or skills in emergency intervention or IV insertion, and they asked to describe my current job a little, so I did while gearing all my experience at my job to how if will be useful in corrections. I didn't really get any case scenarios, my three interviews were more casual and discussion-like. (just got offered a position!)

Good luck!
