Interview in L&D!

Hello all!

I'm a Jr. in nursing school and got a call back for an interview as a tech. in a L&D unit at a very well known hospital in Philadelphia. Considering my main goal in life is to one day (soon) become a CNM, I could not be happier! I currently work in a LTC facility as a Med Tech. It's okay, but it's not maternity! I actually witnessed my first lady partsl birth two weeks ago and it was just the most amazing thing I've ever seen! I hope the wonderment of a new life being brought into this world never wears off of me.

Can any of you give me a little insight into what a tech. typically does on a L&D floor? I know it's not as hands on with clients as in a LTC unit. Also any help with possible interview questions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Jaime

Our techs do vitals & pass ice/comfort measures on postpartum/gyn, set up delivery tables, turn over our labor rooms & OR, take instruments to central sterile for processing, serve as gophers during deliveries, and, in our case, are also OB scrub techs.

Good luck to you!
