interview attire?

i will be relocating to houston in the coming months and was wondering what everyone thought about attire for interviews. What is appropriate? is a suit too dressy? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Personally, I think you can't go wrong with a suit!

I interviewed a couple of weeks ago for a 'Health Unit Coordinator", a part time position while I'm in NS, and I wore a suit...and the Nursing Director whom conducted the interview commented on my attire!

You'd rather 'wow' them and make a favorable first impression and hopefully stand out from the others, who might also be questioning the whole suit thing!

I think it shows a level of professionalism and demonstrates how serious you are about being considered for the position!

Knock em dead!

Please wear a suit. I cannot believe the number of nurses I have seen in recent years showing up in everything from wrinkled scrubs out of the hamper to shorts and flip flops. When I asked those people about their attire, they told me that with the nursing shortage, it didn't matter what they wore. No wonder nurses aren't viewed professionally.

PLEASE NO FLIP-FLOPS or flip-flop isotopes (open-toed sandals of any kind)!!!

As a hiring manager, I have seen the most astounding interview clothing. Other major sins - dirty & wrinkled clothing - cleavage -obvious lack of underwear - t-shirts with rude graphics (I kid you not) - dangly nose rings . .

Your appearance at an interview indicates your attitude about obtaining the job. When someone shows up in a suit, extra copies of resume in hand, firm handshake & looks me in the eye ----

Houston is HOT - especially this time of year, but we are also the air conditioning capital of the known universe. So, if you can get from your car to the interview site without melting down, you then need to be prepared for a cool-to-frigid indoor climate. A lilghtweight suit makes perfect sense in any case.

have to agree with the solid colored suit---with a white blouse or shirt, conservative tie (for men) and neutral pantyhose with closed toe, low pumps for the ladies.

minimal makeup, small stud earrings (no earrings for men) and everything clean and pressed.:yeah:

i've done a lot of hiring in my time, and anyone who doesn't fit the above criteria goes way down the list, if not completely off it!
