internships for those in accelerated BSN programs?

Can anyone complete a nursing internship while in a ABSN program? I would like to do an ABSN but also feel it is important to get experience, especially since I have non nursing work experience. Has anyone completed an ABSN program and completed some sort of internship while in the program? If not, how to did you get experience? I am in the NYC area. Just thinking ahead. Thanks.

    The ABSN programs includes clinicals, where you get hands on experience. If the program you're considering doesn't include extensive off-site clinicals, you should look for a better program.

    Most ABSN programs are 12-16 months long with no break. Some other second degree BSN programs last 2 academic years (with 3 months off in the summer). If you were enrolled in one of those 2 academic year programs, a summer externship would make excellent sense.
