internationally educated nurse process

Published

I am a RN from Israel. We are about to move to Manitoba next year. I try to understand the stages of whole process to be recognised as RN in Manitoba. As for 2013 I understood that in order to be assesed I should fisrt to meet language criteria, but now I heard that there is some office that should evaluate my documents first?

I would be very gratefull if somebody will help me to understand what should I do or sending me link. Please do not refer me to the CRNM site.

Thank you!

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Why not? That would be your starting point. You will need to apply for licensure and meet their requirements before you can write the CRNE. What type of visa do you qualify for?

Thank you for your responce.

My family is about to get PR visa.

Try looking at the college of RN website. They have a video for IEN's

College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba: Internationally Educated Applicants

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

necaca, I think you're referring the change that takes effect August 12, 2104. On that date, ALL IENs wishing to be assessed for eligibility to register in Canada (other than Quebec, because it's a separate bureaucracy unto itself) will have to submit their documents to the National Nursing Assessment Service for preliminary screening. If the documentation meets criteria, then the next step is to submit to the College in the province where the candidate wishes to work. If you've already submitted an application to CRNM and paid the assessment fee before that date, you'll be assessed under the existing process. Yes, you do have to prove your ability to communicate in English (via IELTS - Academic or CELBAN). That is one of the requirements for assessment by CRNM - who incidentally isn't going to care about your immigration status beyond the fact that you ARE eligible to work in Canada. When you submit your application to CRNM it must include your passing IELTS/CELBAN score along with proof of identity, educational documentation and proof of immigration status. The College will then obtain original documents for your IELTS/CELBAN results, transcripts of your educational preparation, course syllabus and any other documentation required directly from the sources. Once all of the documentation has been received and reviewed a decision will be made regarding your eligibility to register in the province. If any part of your educational record is insufficient you may have to upgrade your education to fill the holes. You may be required to submit to a clinical competency assessment or an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). Once all of the requirements for eligibility have been met you will be authorized to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination. (After January 1, 2015 it will be the Canadian NCLEX.) Does that help?
