Hi there folks,
i just wondered if any of you have had any experiance of the above named company for obtaining your car on arrival to the USA?
i recieved some information about them from OGP in a relocation pack
in the pack it states that they can obtain USA finance for you on a brand new car/truck, which seems competitively priced, this will go a long way to starting a USA credit history.
They deliver the car on arrival the tag and insurance are taken care of by them, it seems to make the buying process less hassle (one less thing to think about)
any opinions?????
am off to town now to get my international driving licence- hurrah!!

well got my international driving licence at the post office to day took a passport sized photo, my present licence (both parts, photo and counterpart), and passport for extra ID gave over the £5.50 fee and hey presto! one licence.
also went to Jessops for our visa photos, they have just started doing them, £4.99 for 2 not bad i thought
poor mark had his second MMR jab too so its been quite a morning lol
Hello!
Thanks for the info re jessops, thats really cheap! I thought it was going to cost a ridiculous amount! Are they the only photos we need to have?
I just had my mmr yesterday too! I feel for Mark!! hehe!

You dont need an international driving licence you just need your UK driving licence and then yolu go to US's equilvelent of the DVLA, sit for a few hours and take your test. You cannot do this until you have your Social
security number (SSN).
I didnt use OGP's car thingy as they never bothered to send me the infor I dunno if it is good or bad.
Be aware that the price on the front of any car in the US does not include taxes etc and these can bump up the car prices by thousands.
Make sure you open the Bank of America bank account with the OGP info it is excellent advice, take the Credit card too.
Oh yeah be prepared to buy a car priced around $36000 when you buy a family car from the OGP finance paying about $550 per month in finance. You can a smaller car cheaper but even a $14000 car will cost you around $20000 when all additions are added in and maybe even more. Trust me.
If you are coming to live in Az your car needs special treatment because of the desert sun and that costs more money, also you need tinted windows in the back of your car.

it said on my information to get three, one for the doctor at the medical and two for the embassy, i had one spare so i used it for the licence, i was advised to get the licence as you shouldnt drive on your uk licence when you are a permanant resident, although this is ok when you are a tourist, apparently it can cause insurance problems, how true this is i really dont know but for the cost of a tenner i thought it would be better to be safe really.
i think i will look further into this so we all get the right information
watch this space....
right i found some information
if you are a resident you must take a USA driving test within 10 days of arrival unless you hold an international drivers licence which allows you to drive for 1 year
if you are a tourist you can drive for upto 1 year on your country of origin licence
as i am a greencard holder (or will be) i assume i am resident, that means i need to take the test or have the international one
phew that took some finding

You dont need an international driving licence but all do what you want.
You wont get your green card for at least 3-4 weeks. You will get your SSN first and then you go get your drinving licence but I really am backing out of advice because nobody listens. After all I never lived it!!!! Unless you are very lucky it will take weeks to get your own car you will be driving a hire car, so they dont give a toss what kind of licence you hold you will be charged the same insurance.
oops toys out of pram?
