Yes, and also chemical dependency treatment

A few of my nursing jobs have not even offered health insurance to employees.

For the ones that did offer insurance, there were limited mental health benefits.

Most employer sponsored health plans that I've ever had also covered mental health, chemical dependency, etc. I think though that it was at reduced benefits. I think there is much controversy re this inequality, but I'm not certain where the laws and insurance companies weigh in on this issue. Generally, I think you're allowed so many outpatient visits per year and I'm not sure how inpatient is handled (so many days per year allowed?). Be sure to check with your particular plan, so you don't get stuck with any unpleasant surprises! Many things require precert too. Hope this helps a little :).
