I am a psych/detox RN in the Southeastern U.S. and we are seeing more and more patients wanting to detox from kratom. The patients often become frustrated because our doctors don't seem to completely understand how to treat kratom withdrawal. I hadn't even heard about kratom myself until about 8-9 years ago, and now it seems that more and more people are using it for pain control. I am a compassionate person, and my goal is always to provide my detox patients with as much relief as possible, but I feel like I should know more about how kratom affects the brain and body. Would anyone care to share their experience with caring for kratom detox patients?
