Ingrezza

One of my clients was just prescribed Ingrezza for Tardive dyskinesia. I have not heard of it before, as I believe it is pretty new and very expensive.

Has anyone had experience with the drug and has it been helpful for your patient?

Thanks.

I hadn't heard of Ingrezza (Valbenazine) until you mentioned it, debi49, and did a little web search on it.

Interesting: it's suppose to cure tardive dyskinesia.

Thank you, debi49!

I hadn't heard of it either, it is pretty expensive at a quoted price of $64,000 per year, although even that price is a bait switch since that's the cost of half the recommended dose, so to take the recommended dose it will cost $128,000 per year.

They say they're trying to develop a pill at the recommended dose of 80mg, which will cost about the same as the 40mg pill they make now, but until they can figure out how to make it small enough to swallow they are charging $128k per year because it's being taken as 80mg divided into two pills.

Even at that price, your chances of seeing no improvement is 1 in 4, and your chances of seeing a reduction in symptoms of 50% or greater is just shy of 1 in 2.
