If your transcripts show clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult you should be ok otherwise top up will be required and only way is to contact nursing schools to see if you can join just for the top up requirements. Each BON is different so only way is to apply and see what happens

Thank you for the reply and your advice, both. I have acquired both theoretical and practical experiences to practice as an adult nurse in the UK. I also have a two years work experience in surgical nursing post - graduation. However, i could not find the number of hours of theoretical and practical experience required in each areas of nursing in order to practice as a RN. I would appreciate if anyone would be able to provide number so that I can see whether my training in the UK is adequate before I go through the lengthy process. I also would appreciate if there was any one who had a nursing training after 2005, when the UK nursing curricula has been changed to a specific area of training as opposed to the General Nursing qualification attained prior to that period.

I had a CNA that worked for me that was an LPN in the UK but was told she'd have to start from scratch and go through nursing school to get licensed here. I don't recall if it was because she didn't have those classes the others mentioned or what.

Each state has their own requirements on how many hours they require but I applied to 2 states and did OK and my hours for Mental Health and Obstetrics was approx 150 hours each clinical and theory and for Paeds and Adult was way over on clinical and approx 150 hours theory in Paeds and 300 hours for Adult.

Which state are you applying to?

The UK hasn't trained LPN in over 2 decades and it was a 2 year general training although generally Obstetrics wasn't given due to time

Thank you for your reply. I am planning to apply in the State of California. I do believe I have both the required hours on each nursing area except Paediatrics and Oby/Gyn. However, I was trained in my country of origin prior to my re-training in the UK and I have all the credits required. My only concern is the first training was 10 years ago and if this has expired.
