OK, let me preface by saying I’m not a hater, but Something just doesn’t sit right with me here... several years ago I moved from critical care and started a job in plastic surgery, and have really worked hard and Learned a lot and have enjoyed learning the tricks of the trade. I recently got “certified” to inject and have been Doing a lot of Botox and filler injections Recently. I mentioned this to one of my hometown friends, who Said that one of nurse we used to work with in acute care was a nurse injector now too.
Naturally I was curious because we are doing the same thing and because there was some not so glowing history about this nurse I got dragged into during the legal investigation , so I Looked her up. This nurse, we will call her “Nurse Who”, is advertising herself as an “advanced practice nurse”, and uses certification initials “CANS” and “DNC” behind her RN. I know from my own experience that I have only just recently reached eligibility to test for these credentials as you have to have 2 years Working as an RN in a plastics or aesthetic speciality, and 1000 hours until you can even take this exam.
I also know that Nurse Who has never worked in any of these fields and the last I heard a year ago, she was fired from her acute care job On suspicion of diverting narcotics (again)...This was the same reason she had been let go from the hospital where I first worked with her too, and one of our former coworkers had told me she had disciplinary action on her license taken by the state board, which is verifiable if you look her up...
Why does it bother me so much that Nurse Who is working (injecting and seeing patients) under the guise of being a certified aesthetic nurse when the Board order on her restricted license supposedly restricts her from any direct patient care?
Is it because she’s telling her patients on her social media page, where she markets herself as an advanced practice nurse with all these certs that she’s someone she’s not? Is it because she’s also telling women it’s OK to get Botox and fillers while pregnant? Am I still weirded out that I worked with her and she was always doing sketchy things with narcotics and now shes injecting people without oversight in her new “business” potentially high? Is it because she’s breaking the restrictions of her restricted RN license? Or am I just Being a hater and need to let it go? LOL

You should report this nurse to the BON. Imposter nursing is a serious crime that could be endangering patients.

Yep! And now that you have serious suspicions, you are a mandated reporter for the BON. THEY do all the investigation after you've done your part.
