Immunisation status for RNs

Well, I know that I was required to have certain immunizations in order to attend my particular nursing school. Whether the BON actually required any certain immunizations, I'm not sure.

Why do you object to immunizations? I mean, without them polio and smallpox would still be a big problem.

I am a conscientious objector to immunizations. In Australia the Nursing Boards want to force you to be immunized or you can't work in certain clinical areas such as ED and Paediatrics.

In the US are you forced to be immunized even if you have made the choice not to?

They're not forcing you, you're just not allowed to work in areas where a lack of immunization is deemed an unacceptable risk, you're more than welcome to work elsewhere.

I, however, would not want to work without immunizations, both for my and my patients safety, but that's not my call here.

No, not required for a license, and I don't believe employers can require it either.

I'd rather take my chances with the immunizations than the actual disease.

I was required to be immunized to be considered for nursing school. (Texas)
