Immigration Visa

I would like to know if there is any backlog (like 2005) for immigration visa now.

My visa file (packet 3) in US Consulate and US consulate told me to contact them after 3 months for visa interview date. They informed me that they did not receive visa number.

Why this much delay in getting visa number. My case already approve and only thing is pending is Visa Interview date.

You will only get the actual visa number after you have your interview, it is not assigned until then, or right at that time. They will not give you the number before your intreview. Have you been able to get an interview date scheduled as of yet?

Not sure what the backlog in India is currently, but in Manila, it is at least a four month wait on average. It is backlogged because of the number of people that wish green cards and to work in the US.

Some countries, the interview date is just a few weeks after the file is complete.
