okay so another day of non-stop studying, question taking and reading while my kids are pasted to the tv watching sponge bob and occasionally playing on the wii so as not to get DVTs, I have a few questions for you guys:

1. what is 'rapid results' is there somewhere else other than the BRN that will show our results?

2. on the BRN does it say failed if you failed?

3. has anyone used NCSBN to study?

4. is taking kaplan really a gaurentee (sp) to passing the NCLEX (I CANT AFFORD IT)

5. has anyone used NCLEX 3500 questions to study and do you guys know how old those questions are? i was looking at the references and they are from 2002!

6. also on last, i'm using the MOSBY COMPREHENSIVE NCLEX REVIEW right now has anyone else used it?

thanks for any responses...

There are already many threads discussing NCSBN and Kaplan. Fast results are only available to some states an BRN is not one of them so the only place you will see results are on the BRN website and only if you pass. It will not say that you have failed. Mosby review wasn't one I liked and just before I sat my third time (foreign nurse has less chances on passing first time) I found Saunders and much preferred Saunders.

The main thing is go as many questions as you can and understand what the rationale is especially on the ones you get wrong. Understand the question and what they are asking

1. what is 'rapid results' is there somewhere else other than the brn that will show our results? pearson vue will show you pass/fail for a fee at 48 hours. i saw my results on line in less than 24 at my states site for free.

2. on the brn does it say failed if you failed? some states state "denied" others your name just goes away if you fail. you know you pass when you see a lic number.

3. has anyone used ncsbn to study? no...i used davis/saunders/mosby/ati and read the kaplan book. also read a priotization and delegation book.

4. is taking kaplan really a gaurentee (sp) to passing the nclex (i cant afford it) i couldnt afford it either and i passed with out as, as well as all my other nursing school friends.

5. has anyone used nclex 3500 questions to study and do you guys know how old those questions are? i was looking at the references and they are from 2002! no and no idea.

6. also on last, i'm using the mosby comprehensive nclex review right now has anyone else used it? yes i used this but i liked davis better.

thanks for any responses...

i think everyone has thier own way of studying, mine was like your, thousands of questions in a 3 week span. i had hardly any text anxiety and knew i passed when the screen turned blue. i drove home from pearson vue smiling ear to ear knowing all my hard work paid off.

I used NCSBN questions, but I did not study any of thier material. I used Saunders for my content. The NCSBN questions were more critical thinking type questions, but I was dissapointed that there were so many typos!!! I did not take Kaplan and I'm really glad I did not. I did read the strategies book though. However, I honestly did not use the strategies on my nclex and I didn't feel that I had questions that I could even use them for! I did not use Maslow once, and the ABC's only twice (and i went against it one of the times!) It seems like a lot of people lately are saying that they thought Kaplan was a waste of money and that the exam was more content based! I did NCLEX 3500 too, and I liked using theat to practice SATA questions as well as safety and infection control! Hope this helped!! Oh, and I passed with 75 questions :)

I agree I'm A nurse! I know that I'm not applying the kaplan's strategies( the abc's and maslow) nearly as much as I thought I would when I'm practicing questions.
