I went to the job fair at the hospital here in town today. I am an expected May ADN grad. I got the ED job!!!! I am nervous, but very excited. I have experience as an EMT-basic, and loved my quickie rotation thru the ED. The offer a 14 week orientation, and I'll be working 11a-11p (love those hours!). So, what kind of advice do you have? After the studying for NCLEX stops, I will be buying some more books specific to the ED, ACLS and PALS. Thanks! -Andrea

RUN !!
No really the ED can be a very good place to start, some will not agree with me. But you will learn and see all patients there young, old, and every thing in between. You will see things most never see and never want to see. You will treat every thing under the sun, and learn to go with your gut. Dont get cocky and think you now everything and you will be fine. I learn every day I work. I will say afer working EM you will never be the same.
Have fun and learn. Good luck!!!
