Illinois to join compact?

Any update on if and when Illinois will become part of the compact?

When will that be happening....that will be great if IL join the Compact State

That would be awesome. However, I wonder how that would affect competition in job application?

Legislation is pending according to the compact website? IMHO one RN license should be good in ALL states! Filling out a bunch of paperwork and paying a large fee is just a way for the state boards to make money. If one is in good standing in their home state & has all CEU's completed, then we should be free to move about the country '-)

A national license would be soooo nice. It's definitely an expensive venture just to be able to work in another state!

Maybe if they have specific requirements in their state, such as a ruling or scope of practice, nurses should just be allowed to take a course to familiarize themselves to the local laws. Other than that, I don't see any difference in the basic practice of the profession. Same skills, same exam.

They should implement one national license. Instead of every State has there own rule on getting license..its STUPID..They gave you the same exam which is the NCLEX, why they can give us a NATIONAL LICENSE instead...one license for the whole country..so that nurses can move about and go whatever state they want to live and work..ONE LICENSE FOR RN AND LPN AND LVN IS BETTER...

I'm one of the many nurses who is strongly opposed to the idea of national licensure (which is never going to happen, anyway -- the states will never voluntarily give up the right to license and regulate the practice of nursing, or any other licensed occupation) within their own borders, nor should they).

If IL does choose to sign (join) the NLC, it won't have any effect on the vast majority of IL nurses, anyway.

For what reason/s are you strongly opposed to it? Curious. Might be something I'm not seeing.

Yeah really...US is the only country who has different license on every STATE...which is for me so STUPID..while they only administer one kind of nursing exam in the whole nation.. IF the national license wont work then at least the COMPACT STATE SHOULD WORK ON ALL THE 50 STATES...Nurses on every state practice the same nursing procedures..nothing really different from every state....

Actually, the US is not the only country with a different license in every state. Canada requires that you apply to test and then for licensure in each province, so you can't freely move from province to province. That is only one example, but, Just sayin.

I know this is an older thread but I was wondering if anyone has heard of any updated info regarding if and when IL will become part of the compact states?
