I'd love your feedback!

I'm a nursing student from OH that just recently signed up on allnurses.com because I had a couple of questions I wanted to get perspective on. I was disappointed in that the first response to one of my questions was really judgemental. The responder pretty much called me a liar and didn't address the question I asked at all. I am wondering what other people's experiences have been with allnurses.com, i.e. should I even bother using the specialty discussion boards to ask questions? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello and welcome to allnurses.

I am sorry that you feel like your previous post was not answered in the manner that you desired. We are a large site with thousands of members. We promote the idea of lively debate. This means members are free to disagree with anyone on any type of subject matter as long the criticism is constructive and polite. If you ever feel like you have been personally attacked, please use the report feature, the red triangle and the bottom of each post, and the staff will address your concerns.

Eh, one could see why you wouldn't be so happy especially from some guy/gal who's name has "Premium Member" plastered all over it. And yes this is a GOOD forum, wouldn't be correct for you to judge ALL of us based off one reply now would it. And I would talk my way out of your situation on your scenario. Make sure you are between the door and the patient!

We want to think that we are open to many situations. However, as above poster stated, we are a diverse crowd. What may offend one poster, wouldn't phase another poster.

I did read the other threads and personally didn't find anything at all offensive.

I too am very surprized that everyone would allow you to interact with pts when it is not during a clinical rotation. In the teaching hospitals where I'm credentialled, it requires multiple steps in order to even observe let alone interact with other pts.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I was a little angry and didn't think about it long enough after I read the post. I was more angry about the implication that I was lying than anything, I just wanted some advice, not to be told they didn't believe me. I did go back to reread everything and am much calmer... able to see the advice within it now. I also have seen a lot more questions being answered on the student site now than on the other discussion sites I've visited.

Would you suggest using the students discussion board for questions over the specialty areas? Just curious.

Either one is fine.
