I worked so hard to get into a Nursing program.I guess I should have pushed myself a little more . The cut off point at my school was 3.78. My gpa was 3.55....and the bad news is...my chances of getting into the program are very little.Unless the cutoff point lowers down to a 3.55.(which im sure is'nt going to happen). Is anyone in my situation? If so..please share.

Wow that is tough!!! I have a over all GPA of 3.56 and a pre-requ GPA of 3.8, and I got into the program that I applied to that looks at that stuff. I also had medical experience and excellent letters from the physicians I work with. There are a lot of rumors that go around about applications and stuff...are you sure the cut of is at 3.78? Are you applying to a prestigious school???
A 3.55 is very good!!! Even some pre-meds are not perfect with 4.0's....I would get more information before you get upset...when will you find out if you got in or not? If you are applying to a good school that truly looks at grades, they may take into consideration which grades were a little lower which resulted in your 3.5.....I mean if you got an A in anatomy, physio, micro, chem ect, but got a few B's in the basic classes like English Math it may not be such a big deal that you got a 3.5.....An A in Chemistry (at least to me) is a shinnier A than an a in say History.....(not to dis history majors....)

Its not by any chance BMCC in NY:lol2: I was facing the same thing. My pre-clinical GPA was a 3.66 and like in your situation the GPA cut off was 3.78 and it has been that way for the past 4 or 5 semesters, in that particular school. I transferred out of there to a school that looks at other factors besides just your GPA. I just applied for fall 06. I am waiting to see if I pass this dang Pharm class. But believe me, I understand how you feel but DO NOT give up . There are other options, other schools. Keep your head up.
Thanks HeartsOW....My school is not prestigious at all.I never planned on staying. They only accept 45 students for the day and 45 for the evening , because of their budget.I just needed a school that wasn't too expensive and one that didn't require a student visa to start off with.I plan on transferring to Beth Israel school of Nursing.I'm waiting to hear from them.I didn't do so great in the Pre-Nursing exam, but I hope they take my GPA, Essay, and rec. letters into consideration.I never knew that Nursing school would be such a hassel!!!!.I think the chances of getting into a Nursing program at the private schools are greater( they have much more teachers and resources).
OMG yes !! I'm talking about BMCC.LOL. That school is such a waste of time for those who really want to be a Nurse. I regret ever going there. What school did you transfer to MINNIe.?
I transferred to BCC ( bronx comm coll). They require that you take the NLN Exam and other pre-reqs that BMCC did not require, like a communication class and they do not accept the math from BMCC so I am taking that class again, and this one is way more difficult than the one at BMCC. I am basically taking this pharm class and the communications class. I applied to the program and once these grades are in they'll inform us in June. One thing is that since I am a transfer student I will not be chosen over their generic student, for example if a generic student and I have the same GPA & NLN Score they'll choose the generic over me. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hey Nyaussie, when is the deadline for BI? I thought that I did not score well enough to get into BI. I scored 112, so maybe I have a chance? which program are you getting into? I can only do the ATOP because I HAVE to work during the day.
Oh and how do you like that prof?
I can't stand that prof. He makes you write a 15 page paper on aging, and he is an A$$.
BY the way we are not allowed to put professors names,. maybe you should edit that.
I love Roane. He is halarious.lol. Minnie.. are you talking about the composite score or the composite percentile?
Nyassuie, which score are you referring to.There are two composite score
