I.V. Certification

Hi. I received my I.V. cert in 2004. So now it is displayed on my license but I am coming up for renewal in April 2009 and wanted to know if I have to recertify every few years( kinda like CPR/1st Aid) or is it just a one time course (like continuing ed.)? I haven't done an I.V. in all the years I have had it. Most of the facilities I worked at the RN was responsible for the I.V.'s but I was told in my nursing program that it is a good certificate to have.

I think it is a good certificate to have so I would renew it just in case because the RNs maybe busy.

Also, I think you have to renew it every few years, yes.

I am looking for I.V. certification course in southern N.J. Anyone know where I can find one?

Hello! I'm currently taking my IV therapy class (in Kansas), my instructor told us that we DO NOT have to renew it.

In CA you don't have to renew it. I took the course over again for my personal advantage since I never use the skills.

i found a iv course at a local hospital...try local teaching hospitals!
