Hello everyone,
This is my first post to allnurses. My husband reads some of the posts periodically and has encouraged me to post my story and ask for help in preparing better the 2nd time around.
I graduated on May 13th, took the Drexel prep class the following week, moved to another state 4 days later, unpacked the entire house, left for Disneyworld on the 31st, got home after 10 days of vacation, started my new job (orientation for two weeks) on June 12th, then took the NCLEX on the 16th. Before we left on our vaction I studied the Saunders comprehensive review and the prentice hall study guides. When I got home for the trip I studied the online portion of the drexel every night for about 2-3 hours. I was feeling pretty confident that I knew what I was doing.
WRONG...Hindsite...I didn't study near enough and am wondering what helped you get through the test.
One point about the drexel was you only had so many questions and after you have answered them then went to take it again you remember the correct answers or at least I did.
I know this time around all 45 days I will be studying and reviewing.
Any one have any better ideas or other sources to study that might help prepare me better.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass. It sounds like you had a lot going on at the time and you were using several different study resources. I know that if I don't have a clear, focused study plan with one study guide, it's easy for me to flip back and forth between resources to the point where I get almost nothing done. If I were you, I would focus on Saunders. You should receive a report that tells you about strengths and weaknesses. That should give you a better idea of which areas you need to hit the hardest.
This second time around should go better. Hopefully life is a little calmer and you know you'll have to buckle down some. Good luck on your second try. Definitely keep us posted as to how things go.

Suzanne4 is one of the moderators here. Look at the NCLEX forum for her sticky on her guide to help you study.
Word on the street is that it's awesome:

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't pass. Keep your chin up!!
Like people have said, I have been using the Saunders Review Book and feel like it is really helping. I would recommend trying that. Also, if you have time, contact Suzanne4 via private message and ask her to send you her program. I didn't have enough time since you need 6 weeks to complete it, but since you have 45 days I would contact her ASAP to have her email it to you!!
I took or at least began the Drexel course too, but I didn't feel that it was helpful. I have heard that Kaplan is really great, but a bit expensive! Don't forget to contact Drexel also and get your money back from the review class! There is no reason that you should lose out on the class money since they have a money back guarantee!! That way you can apply it to another study program or just purchasing other review books!!
Good luck studying! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!
