I was offered a job

I was offered a DON hob. I met with the Administrator and the Regional Nurse. They told me I would be a good fit... The Regional left, and I and the Administrator discussed salary. I was given my benefits paperwork. I have been calling and emailing the Administratir... no response. I canceled other interviews. What should I do? What can I do?

    Shame they treat a potential DON this way. I would do the same thing as a lower totem pole person. Resume job search. You could be professional and inform them in writing why you are withdrawing yourself from consideration, or you could just continue with the work of getting a new offer and see if they ever acknowledge you again. Sad.

    Unless they quickly provide you with a plausible reason the admin has not responded, such as he was in the hospital in a coma, I would take this as a revelation as to why you do not want to work there. One would think an admin in need of a good DON would be all over the selectee like white on rice.

    I've been in the business since..well...a long long time. For some reason, people have no class when it comes to hiring. You might be left hanging for weeks while they do whatever it is they do. The LEAST we should expect is a nice 'thanks but no thanks' if they don't want to hire us. I especially dislike the companies that have you come back multiple times to interview and then you hear nothing. If I were you, I'd look elsewhere. Good luck.

    I'm a new RN, just passed the NCLEX. Worked in Corporate America for many years. Having that experience taught me one thing. It's not firm until you have something in writing. I'm interviewing myself right now. I had one interview that I was sure went very badly. She kept the door open and people were going in and out of the office, which to me said the interview was lip service. In the interim I went on other interviews and had people respond for the next steps pretty quickly. 10 days after that bad interview the I received an email stating something along the lines of, "It's yours if you're still interested and I hope that you are. Please call me." (I politely declined based on how I felt during the interview)

    I would say to reschedule other interviews if you can. Just keep working it. The right one will come along. I've been honest in stating that I am interviewing at other places. One place I told I accepted a job that day and they told me to come in anyway. I'm going since I still have nothing in writing. All the jobs I worked as an Aide while I was in nursing school sent an offer letter. I have to agree with others that the lack of response doesn't reflect nicely on the administration. While they may still get back to you, I'd say regroup, re-apply and keep up the interviews until you have a firm offer that you like.
