I need help.

Hello to all. I'm just finishing my second semester in nursing school and I'm struggling. I have not developed a study method that have been effective for me. I have to admit that I don't know what to do. What are some study methods, habits, sessions that have worked for you guys. I got a 'C' in theory, 'B' in clinical, and 'B' in seminar. I'm really disappointed in myself for making a 'B' in clinicals. Everyone that I know made a an 'A' and I just dont understand what I'm doing wrong.:(

Did you have an evaluation with your instructor? If not, I would make an appointment with the clinical instructor and ask her what you need to do to improve. Ask for feedback and see if you can get information that may lead you in making changes for the next semester.

Well, not exactly sure what your having a problem with. Those grades are great compared to the nursing school I'm in............it's a tough one. Be happy with those grades, C=RN! I do find the Saunders NYCLEX-RN review books to be very helpful and hi-lights all important things. Use it along with whatever subject your studying at the time. Good Luck!:wink2:

I record my notes on a digital recorder and listen to them as often as possible when I 'm not able to actually sit down and read. I also answer a ton on nclex style questions. I also write drug cards. review the powerpoints over and over and over again, I pay attention to charts and diagrams, and study groups have been my best friend. What I notice with alot of my classmates is that they know the information but don't know how to answer the questions. Try these steps when taking an exam:

First: Identify the patient. ( age, gender, sex play a major role)

Secondly: State the problem

Third: Identify key information related to the problem( lots of time instructors will throw in un-necessary info. to try to throw us off)

Lastly: Restate the question.

After those steps you should be able to answer alot of the questions on the exam.

Why can't you believe C=RN.:no: When you graduate with your RN license it does not say you graduated with an A or B. Its says you are a RN ! :yeah:

I tend to be a more visual learner. I don't take in information through my ears. I have had good success looking over the main points that the instructors covered, and flipping through the chapters for things I didn't have a good grasp of. Also, at the end of our chapters, there are a few questions that have actually been used on our tests. Helps to study those.
