I need HELP on how to prepare/study for CLEP Intro to Sociology exam.

I plan to take CLEP Introduction to Sociology since it is required by CA Board of Nursing. I don't know what study materials I should be using to prepare for the CLEP Intro to Sociology exam. If you have recently taken this exam, can you please share your study materials and tips you use to successfully pass it? Since I have zero clue about Sociology, should I get and use a college textbook to study/learn:confused:? Please help me! This will be my first time to take a CLEP exam!

Also, how helpful are InstantCert.com Intro to Sociology Flashcard Study Guide and CLEP Introductory Sociology Exam Guide?:confused:

IMO, Sociology is VERY BORING. :D Anyway that wasn't the answer you were looking for. There is this book that you can buy on amazon.com and it's called CLEP: Sociology or something like that. I've read the reviews about it and they said they were well prepared using that book and that some of the actual questions were almost exactly the same. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Hehehe! That was why I didn't take it in my college years. I will check the book you mentioned at my local library first before purchasing it. Besides that book, do you know more of books that will assist me in my preparation for the CLEP Sociology exam? Thanks:)

I used IC and the CLEP book. I found the topic to be VERY interesting to study for but I thought the exam was hard. I know four people that took the exam because my school allows Clepping of Soc, Psych, and Human Dev. Everyone said this exam was the hardest. 2 of my friends passed 2 did not. I passed but I would suggest using more than 1 source like I did. NEVER rely on only 1 source.

The CLEP book from Amazon is probably the REA book. The nice thing about it is that it condenses everything down to about 80 pages. There are three practice tests in the book and you can get a CD with it that has a couple of timed practice exams. Took me a couple of hours to read the material, took the practice tests over about a week, passed the CLEP with a score of 77 out of possible 80. You only need a 50 to pass.

Oh yeah, I have NEVER been overly fond of Sociology either. It makes my eyes roll into the back of my head.
