I need help on this letter...

Published

Hi, everyone.

I got a letter and it makes me depressed.

Well, it says;

The Committee on Admissions has made a preliminary review of your application for admission to XXX. As you are either currently enrolled or planning to enroll in certain prerequisite courses which are important to us in the selection process, we wish to review the results of your performance in those courses before we take further action.

In order for us to proceed with your candidacy, we are requesting that you send us an official copy of your spring final grades.

AFTER WE RECEIVE THIS INFORMATION, WE WILL REVIEW YOUR APPLICATION AGAIN, TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION ALL OF YOUR ADMISSION MATERIALS. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU SEND US THIS INFORMATION AS SOON AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.

And they gave me the list of missing prerequisites.

I didn't complete 4 classes yet,,

Does this mean that I will not get my decision of admission until this SPRING SEMESTER is OVER in MAY?

Do you guys who are waiting for THE letters, receive this kind of letter?

:( :(

Hi Nurseyoon,

From what the letter says, it seems to me that you might not get your letter until May, but you never know. I haven't received a letter like that, but I do have to send in my Spring grades when they become available. The letters are sent out in late April or May, but if my Spring grades do not show that I completed my last pre reqs they will cut me from the program. So maybe the letter will be sent to you sooner, but they just want you to send in your final grades to make sure you completed everything. I hope this is the case. Good luck to you!!

I had the same kind of letter at one point--lots of nursing schools want to see you make good grades in the sciences before you get accepted-it is the whole weed-out thing. Just do well, send in your grades, and I bet you will get accepted! GL!

I'm afraid if I get one of those letters I will go off the deep end! I completed all my pre-reqs last semester and am biding my time in a boring Soc class and a somewhat interesting abnormal psych - that I DON'T need....

As for what it means to you - I agree with above poster...do well in your last pre-reqs, send in the grades and I'm sure it will all be good!!

Yes... I really hope that this letter is just a reminder.

I am worrying because this school is on rolling basis admission..

thus the possibility of getting in becomes lower if my review delays until May.

Did anyone who applied to Thomas Jefferson Univ. in Phila. get this letter also?

I am nervous.. although I have quite good GPA the school sent out this kind of warning letter.

I would call them if I don't hear any notice about a week later.

Or i'm gonna kill myself with wondering all the time.

Thank you guys.. wish you are all well with yours.

Sorry I don't have better news, but I received one like this when I was applying to a BSN program last year. They gave me through the summer to get any one of the science classes I needed out of the way. They said that although my grades in other classes were good and I'd done great on my admissions essay, they have to have grades in certain classes in order to compute their formula for who gets in. Without grades in those classes, you get 0 points in those areas, which really gives you no chance of getting in. They actually called me at the end of the summer to see if I took those classes (hadn't been able to so I scrapped the idea of going there.) Just concentrate on doing well in the classes. If your scores are high enough , just remember that even if they fill all the spots before then, there will always be SOMEONE who has to drop before the program starts and you will be there to take their spot.

I know, that wasn't very positive, but it's the info I had. Good luck!
