I need some help getting things organized in my work/life balance

Published

I have a decent paying job, it pays the bills, but does not make me happy. My pay is around $40K.

I make more than double the income as my wife, so my income is a significant amount of our household income.

There is little to no way my work schedule can work with my school schedule, even for my pre-requisites. If I can't do classes online, then I can't go to school. I work 12 hours a day.

We have a baby due in April (we're excited) and I don't want to be absent, and unhappy during the first years of having a child.

What is a good plan to get out of my current situation and being able to get a different job, even a non-healthcare job?

Cliffnotes:

My income is significant amount for our bills.

My work schedule doesn't allow traditional classes in person.

I dislike my job and work long hours regularly.

We have a child on the way.

I need suggestions for what to do to better my situation because I'm stumped.

I was searching for an all online nursing program and came across one bsn online program - WGU online prelicensure bsn... I don't know if its fully accredited.

BSN with RN License | Online RN Degree | Online Nursing School

Once again I don't know if they are fully accredited, maybe someone who reads this post has more info on the school. Do your research first..

Good luck!

Hello,

1. What would you like to do?

2. What else do you have experience in?

3. Look into jobs fairs

4.Try a new position at your work place

5. Try and job agencies to help you find new work.

-I understand how hard it is with a little one. I hope one or two of the following works out for you and your family.

1 I really have no idea. I'm not sure how to figure that out.

2 I have physical labor and mobile equipment experience but no cdl or anything.

3 I'll look into this

Thank you

There are a lot of free career assessment quizzes you can take online to help you figure it out and give you ideas maybe. You can google "career assessment" or here's one if you're interested:

I have taken all but one of my prerequisites online and even that class was offered online. I am taking them through my local university. I would look at anything you have locally first, most traditional schools offer a lot of online classes. I started school when my son was 2 months old and I took just two online classes. You can do all your prereqs part-time. It might take a little longer but it's better than doing nothing.

You cannot do nursing school online. You have clinicals you must attend. If you dislike "long hours" do not get into nursing. I often work 15 hour days.
