  1. 1 I really have no idea. I'm not sure how to figure that out. 2 I have physical labor and mobile equipment experience but no cdl or anything. 3 I'll look into this Thank you
  2. I have a decent paying job, it pays the bills, but does not make me happy. My pay is around $40K. I make more than double the income as my wife, so my income is a significant amount of our household income. There is little to no way my work schedule can work with my school schedule, even for my pre-requisites. If I can't do classes online, then I can't go to school. I work 12 hours a day. We have a baby due in April (we're excited) and I don't want to be absent, and unhappy during the first years of having a child. What is a good plan to get out of my current situation and being able to get a different job, even a non-healthcare job? Cliffnotes: My income is significant amount for our bills. My work schedule doesn't allow traditional classes in person. I dislike my job and work long hours regularly. We have a child on the way. I need suggestions for what to do to better my situation because I'm stumped.
  3. How did you get into health care stuff without prior experience?
  4. Great news! I'm starting my pre-reqs in January and by Fall I should be able to apply for the program. What job do you do that allows you to work from home? Might be something I'd like to do.
  5. To me, the title "professional" is similar to the title "professor" vs. "teacher" in this scenario. A professor has been educated to a "professional" career position, but they're still a teacher. I think you can be proficient without formally being called a professional because it's not an insult, it's just saying that your status on what color of collar you wear (white, blue, etc) is not that of a doctor, who educationally is a superior. So, if you do your job well and are skilled, then you're a professional, even though you can't say your career is that of the same rank as a doctor.
  6. I'm wondering if I'm a good fit for nursing before committing myself to it. I'm a kind person, have a heart to serve others, patient, and skill oriented (I like learning and doing my work well). I really enjoy murder investigation shows and critical thinking too (might be related to pathology?). I'm not huge on math, but if I brush up on it and stick with it I'm a B student, and science is alright...depending on the subject. What do you think?
  7. I'm glad this thread exists. I've changed my major more than I can count by now. I've gotten 2 Associates Degrees, one is basically useless, and I'm going to be dropping university to go back to CC. The reason I'm dropping it is because the classes are so tough and I realized that I really don't like what my major was. I'm much more interested in Nursing, so I'm planning to go into that with my head held high. Don't give up on yourself. Everyone has bad semesters, bad grades, and bad days. It's all about trying to do better and use your anger to motivate you.
  8. Thanks :) Well I'm a male, so I'm concerned about getting to see my kid born and helping out with feeding and stuff.
  9. I have only 3 classes to take and I'd like to get done with them by August 2016. They are : Microbiology Cell biology(or Chemistry) Anthropology + Physiology Or Anthropology And Physiology (separate) I've got a kid due in the first semester.
  10. I think I can do that, but the question is will I be motivated enough? I have a hard time answering that honestly because I'm a procrastinator. I think I'd only have 2 classes max per semester with some clinicals on the weekend, can't be too hard. No I haven't, I don't know any, got suggestions?
  11. I'm going to start pre-reqs in January, my wife has a baby due in the spring and I'll be applying for the program in Fall if it all works out. I work around 48/hrs a week, and I can't quit. So far we're on a predictable schedule, so that's good. I'm 27. Hang in there.
  12. So, they'll let me deviate from the schedule they post on the website? I thought I was stuck. I can also take off for a semester if needed?
