Thanks for reading this:
I graduated nursing school in may, took boards in july and passed. I was working up at a camp over the summer as a counselor and would cover Thursday/Fridays' for the camp nurse, so I haven't had time until now to search for a nursing job.
I am currently looking and I don't know where to start. I liked Pysch the most, b/c it wasn't like your typical m/s floor, and I surprisingly enjoyed it. I've applied to a couple of behavioral hospitals, but haven't heard anything as of yet.
I had my first interview yesterday by a long term care facility, and they offered me a job on their skilled nursing floor. They were all very nice, and it seemed like a nice, clean facility...but will I get experience?
I need advice....as a new grad and new nurse I'm SCARED to death to go to m/s I DID NOT enjoy m/s rotations at all. I always felt anxious before every clinical. I don't want to end up hating nursing, as I see so many m/s nurses feeling. However, I want experience b/c eventually I do want to do camp nursing. Do you think that a skilled nursing floor in a LTC facility would provide me with experience?
What area should I look for a job?
I am applying for m/s positions..but as I said I just really don't want to do it. Everyone's said, "Do what you love" but how do I know that if I go into Pysch or something that's not your typical m/s that I will end up not liking it, and then I'll be left with no remembrance of any skills that I picked up in nursing school. :uhoh21:
I don't know...I am just so confused about what to do...I would LOVE anyone's experienced opinion!! Thank you so much!
