So I started with a new client. Family does not speak much english. mom speaks some. I was oriented to the case quite a while ago but only started a week ago and doing one day a week. Mom seems angry that I have a lot of questions, its a complicated case and the care plan was not updated since I was oriented. I showed up the other day and the client was with a non english speaking family member which caused some confusion. They told me the client had her treatments and meds etc yet it turned out she had not. Mother was angry and when I tried to call doctor she tells me to leave if I want she will do everything. I stay because I do not want to abandon my patient. She ends up doing a lot of things not really letting me, and barking orders at me asking why I did not give a med 15 mins before it was due each time. She ends up having me leave early telling me they had to go somewhere and they all left. I had called the supervisor to tell her what happened and the parents were angry I did that as well. No one said I am not to go back next week. But I can't picture going back to that house. I dont know if it is a cultural thing for her not to just say "dont come back". I dont want to go back to the kind of hostility I felt there. I let the company know everything that happened. I tried to call the doctor to report it, she grabbed the phone and started yelling at me. This is what I am supposed to do.
My husband said just wait and see what happends this week. I have plenty of other clients I work with per diem that I love. I have been doing this for 5 years now, i have never had a client treat me with such disrespect. I am not sure what to do.

I'm not sure how your agency works but with mine, for whatever reason if I don't feel comfortable at an assignment, I can say I don't want to go back. No questions asked. Sometimes certain people just aren't compatible with others.

That sounds like private duty instead of home health. But its clear that the case isn't a good fit. Its best to move on to a case that is a better fit.
oh, I should repost. thanks for pointhing this out. I was thinking this might be best especially since another spot on case I love just opened up. thanks for the input.

some cases start out like that, and get better as time passes. or at least tolerable. most likely they have been though several home workders and get frustrated having to start all over each time a new one shows up.
some of the best cases start out very rough , so give it a while
