how did you know nursing was for you?

Hello tnm8:
I dunno....It was something that I had wanted to do since I was a wee one...Had been ill a lot when younger. I shall never forget the ped nurse that had to administer the pre-op med to me. There I was, kicking and screaming - I sure didn't want that injection, but she just put her hand on my forehead, smiled at me and told me to yell as loud as I could. While I was yelling she had that needle in and out of me in seconds...I didn't feel a thing.
Sure wish she was with me in the OR. I was struggling, kicking and fighting so hard I had "extra" anesthesia....Slept for 24 hours straight and missed out on the ice cream (this was the late 50's)
Big decision you have in front of you....What are you hesitant about, if I may ask?

I knew I wanted something in healthcare, and I liked that nursing is very horizontal... if you dislike one specialty, you can always swap to another... OR to Med/Surg to CVICU or with more schooling to anestheisa to practitioner to flight nursing...
A lot of possibilities.. however at the time I decided on nursing, I had realized that physical therapy was more boring actually on the job than I originally thought.
