:w00t: I got into the course I applied for.
Bachelor Degree in Midwifery. I am really excited. I only finished my RN degree 13 months ago and am looking forward to study again, but nervous at the same time.
I should start late Feb early March and I need to ask my employer for some assistance but not sure what to ask for? There is a huge clinical component to the course (130 days minimum) in 18 months. So I guess I will ask for help with the time off and some money. :bowingpur Guess some good old fashioned grovelling will be required.
Yeah!!!
Nicky.
P.S. Can anybody out there recommend any good books on natural childbirth?

Hi and Congrats!!
I'm just beginning a Midwifery program, also!
Go to the Advance Practice area under Specialty and then go to Certified Nurse Midwives. There's lots of good info there and there was recently a thread about great books on natural and home childbirth. Just search "books" in that area.
Good Luck!!

I hope to apply and start about when you did-- so keep me posted on what you think! I also have worked in home birth and a birth center so I would be happy to chat with you about that.

Malga - what CNM program are you looking at? I am applying to Marquette, thought it would be interesting if you are looking to go there as well!
"Born in the USA" is also good - doesn't focus so much on natural childbirth, but goes in depth into the current practice of American obstetrics, as well as the role the author believes midwives should have in the US. Interesting read.
