I got in & so will you!

So after reading countless posts on getting into CRNA school...here is my info:

Stats:

1st Degree: 3.2 (have 2 Fs Sciences)

2nd Degree (BSN): 3.55 (All Bs & As)

Worked 2.5 yrs in a CTICU

CCRN, Preceptor, PI committee, experience with IABP, Swans, all the other stuff.

GRE Verbal:154, Quant:160, Writing:3.0 (WOW....bad)

Applied to 4 schools, interview at 2 (both are great schools). My first interview was bad (had family issues), second interview went well and I got in!

All I can say is that if your grades are not great... do other things. Committees, CCRN, etc. Apply to as many schools as you can and make sure you get good recommendations.

Feel free to ask any question!

Again, you're another shining example for me, like many others on this site who shed hope!

Congrats and good job! Good luck with school and stay strong!

If you don't mind me asking, where are you located and what school did you get into?

Congrats!! As many of us, you are living my dream. I'm currently working in a CVSICU now and learning so much everyday. Don't get me wrong it's very stressful and there are def tough days. What gets me through is the thought of one day reaching my dream.

Many congrats and good luck in school!

I am located around Toledo area. I applied to couple of Detroit/ Ohio area schools and got into Wayne state :)

That's so inspiring, thank you for sharing! :)

Specializes in Step-down ICU.

Hi,

Congrats! I am in the midst of preparing for the GRE. Looking to take in the middle of July. Any pointers or suggestions for it?

Not really! Do your review book and try your best. Many feel reviewing a long time didn't help much or that it didn't at all. I wished I would have timed my practice math sections as I ran out of time twice on the test. Its pretty gross.

Specializes in Cardiac.

Wow, this is very encouraging. I have 2 applications submitted and 2 more I will be sending. My stats are similar to yours.

GPA 3.1 (first and only degree is BSN from 2009) I definitely did not apply myself whatsoever.

Taking grad level Patho now (getting 99% and half way done)

GRE quant 162, verbal 156, writing 4.5

CVICU (lots of open hearts) for 2.5 years.

Lots of swans, flotrac, IABP. Etc

RN 4 years total

CCRN-CSC-CMC

Preceptor, leadership committee, orienting to charge

Good letters of rec

We'll see, I'm really excited at the possibility of going to school to be a CRNA. It encompasses so much of what I love about nursing! Any tips you might have let me know! :)

You look great! You should get to interview no prob!

With the proliferation of CRNA programs, nationwide, anyone who wants to get in will. It is not nearly as selective as it was 5 or10 years ago. Apply enough and you will get it. Don't sweat GPA GRE etc.
