I am DONE!!!!!!

Have any of you gotten to the point where you are done??......that is where I am at!

I am exhausted!!! Sick of being put in postions that are unsafe, watching physicans make decisions out of exhaustion, watching patients die. I am done!

I have a hard time reconciling the fact I finished nursing school the top of my class. To give it up less than 5 years later but I do not know how much more I can take. I felt so much pasion about nursing. It is gone

Am I the only one?????

That is an interesting job! I never thought of doing telephone triage. How did you get started?

I replied to this thread back in March of 08! I wasn't happy so I made a change. I now have a job that is about 90% phone work, 10% interaction with patients. I love what I do and am still a nurse. SO don't give up on nursing, as I said before there is a nursing job out there for you. Good Luck!

I was thrown into a situation that became terribly risky b/f I could put on PPE. I ended up having to get blood drawn and waiting results from infection controle. Let me tell you they are taking there sweet time. I truly feel like I am on my own on my unit and will be changing the way I "get into situations." i.e. more concern for my own health.

I felt horrible and extremely angry at the same time. I feel your pain.:banghead:

I feel your pain. After nearly every shift, I come home to complain to my hubby that " I gotta get off this damn unit!"

The ratio for the neurologically/physically impaired patients I care for is so unsafe. Management only cares about productivity and budget. I barely have time to assess patients and give meds before I am running off to another room for another crisis.

I am bullied into joining more committees, doing monthly audits and attending more than 50% of unit meetings in order to get a "meets expectations" on my yearly evaluation. My raise was a joke!

This week I said ENOUGH! I resigned my position on 2 of the committees, and will scale back on helping with monthly audits.

I am taking back the control.....

Have you considered changing facilities? Maybe do some travel nursing for a change and to find a place you really like.
