I have decided to pursue Nursing... Am I crazy??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So I am currently an Aesthetician and have been thinking about pursuing nursing for awhile now. I have always wanted to work in the dermatology field. I am almost 30, married and a mother to a six year old boy:heartbeat... and I can't find a moment in my day half the time, but I can't help be pulled into this direction! I would be starting from the very beginning Prereq's and all (here I come English 101) :D... and I can't help but wonder can I do this??? Or am I really crazy?? Anyone else have or had the same thoughts??:uhoh3:

If you are crazy so are the rest of us on a second career.. hee hee

I am back in school at 45 to start over also.

good luck, Sandy

You can do it. I started back to school somewhere around your age and now I'm 33, married with four children, and graduating nursing school next year. It's been a crazy long road but it's been fun and worth it.

As long as it is financially feasable go for it. If it will put a huge strain, Id say save up.

Wow, you totally can do this. You are still young. It took me a long time (try 3-4 years) to get through prereqs because I worked full time and am a mom also. I only could take a class or two at night, but I did it and I am in a nursing program now. Quit my job of almost 21 years to be able to be in the nursing program full time, but I know several people who are working full time and going to school. It is not easy for them, but they are managing.

Please give yourself a lot of pats on the back. It may seem like a long road but it is so worth it. If you ever want to talk or vent, feel free to pm me. Best regards, Jean

I left my full time job in '05 after taking pre-req's for 2 years, 2 classes at a time. I finished up the last of them in '06 and started applying. Here in my area the programs are really impacted so it took me some time to get in but I will be finally starting this Fall.

It was hard leaving a solid paying job for part time and being a college student. I don't have any children just yet but that is on the list as soon as I finish in '10.

It will be a journey I will say that, but if you really want to do this... I am sure you will find a way.
