Hi! I will start when your petition or I-140 is filed. It also depends on what state you will be working and in what jurisdiction it will fall. Lets us say you will work in New Jersey, NJ falls under Vermont Service Center. Once I-140 is filed it would take at least 3 to 13 months for an approval. Vermont is fast while Texas, California and Nebraska is slow. Once your petition( I-140 ) is approved, the service center will forward it to the National Visa Center, if there is a visa number available then it will forward a visa bill to your agency/immigration lawyer. Once the agency pays the visa bill, NVC will sent DS-230 forms for you to fill up. Once you fill it up and send it back to NVC, Packet 3 will start. The DS-230 forms will be processed by NVC and then they will send it to the American Embassy of your country. THe US embassy will inform you for an appointment and that starts Packet 4. From the start of the date of filling I-140, it would at least 1 to 2 years to find yourself in America.

HI forgot to mention that although the "official" processing for date for Schedule A nurses in Texas is currently August 18th 2003, my PD was September 26th 2003, so those dates must be out be 6 weeks or so. They actually picked up my case in early Sept 2004, because they sent my attorney an RFE to check the validity of my temporary Florida licence ( nit picking in my point of view!, because I have a copy of what they asked for, and what the lawyer sent back!)

One thing I have learnt is keep in touch with your attorney- mine seems to require a reminder every now and then to keep things moving!!! Probably irritates the hell out out of him LOL, but hey this process is long enough and tedious enough without any extra hassles!

Still haven't received my visa fee bill, or if my attorney has it, he certainly is not telling me. Still haven't even received the official notification of my I140 being approved, because he didn't update his mailing address when he moved offices- the USCIS website says it has now been posted to whom it was issued. To think I thought it would all be plain sailing now- how stupid of me.

Does the NVC notify you by email when they have created your case?

Yes, I noticed that, they've started processing my petition and I was notified that the processing time of my case would be shorter than first estimated.

Did you find out about your notice of approval by USCIS case status online, RNkiwi? I just wonder, if that kind of information can also be retrieved from the USCIS internet account I've created?

Sorry, I have no idea, if they do...but maybe you found about that by now?

I signed up for the email updates, they emailed me when my case had been approved.

My visa fee bill from NVC was generated on Dec 6th, have no idea whether this has been paid or not, as my "attorney" is not big on replying to my correspondence. He has however forwarded to me my DS230 and OF 169, which I am in the process of returning to him. He has asked me to contact him regarding further instructions for my family who will be processing with me- I have done so 4 times now and he won't reply. Do these people not realise this is stressful enough without them trying to play God with our lives- mind you with all the other muck ups he has made with my case in the past 18 months, what else can I expect. Sorry to rant and rave, I feel so close, but yet so far, from getting my Green Card- some days I just feel like chucking the whole thing away.......

Here's hoping 2005 will be a better year for all..
