For hyperthyroidism...one of our cares is to observe the neck for hematoa...it is to avoid the pressure symptom.

So i need to know what is the pressure symptom?

Anyone here can explain to me...

I'm gonna take a stab at this and hopefully a more experienced nurse will be by soon to clarify. I've not heard of "pressure symptom" but that doesn't mean anything lol. I am thinking that what is meant by the term and its relation to a hematoma is the pressure that any swelling of the thyroid gland would put pressure on the airway obviously compromising the patients ability to oxygenate.

I would imagine that this is referring to an enlarged thyroid causing compression symptoms. These may be difficulty swallowing, airway compressive symptoms such as stridor or the feeling that they are choking when lying flat, they may have voice changes as a result as well

but i am still not understand about its symptom...can anyone who had over cross this term and any experienced about this

I can't even understand your question, really.

I've never heard of "pressure symptom" either.. Considering you mention hematoma formation, are you talking about post op care? And I agree with the others I would think, giving location and pressure that hematoma could cause would be airway constriction. I would ask your instructors to clarify, I'm interested in the answer!
