Hurst is the BEST! It helped me pass the NCLEX in 75 questions, I just found out today.
If you do the live review, they will give you a spiral bound book with all the notes in it. The notes have lots of blanks that you have to fill in as the instructor lectures. I feel that this will keep you awake, but it's also a form of active learning. The notes don't ramble on and on like a med-surg book, but hits the major points of each subject. Also, you can attend as many live lectures you want for free after your first one.
As long as you learn the book, you will pass. I left the testing center feeling very confident that I passed. I attribute it to the Hurst review because I knew my content so well. That's what the review does best, is focus on the content.
I would also recommend Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment by LaCharity and NCLEX 3500 for questions. I have Saunders but I thought the questions were way too easy. I forgot to add that you need to know infection control really, really well. Like Measles, varicella, Herpes zoster, and TB need airborne precautions and what is the correct PPE to wear for each of the different kinds of isolation.
Good Luck!
thank you so much... this is going to be my third time taking the NCLEX and I need something to help me pass.. you dsaid the live one was the best one... how loing did you study before taking the test... how many times have you taken the test... does it give you test taking statagies and how does she take on learning meds... also how much was it and can you please rate it 10 being the best!!!!!! what did you think about the LA charity book... did it help you?
Thank YOu!
also Congrats!!!!

chickensRN is absolutely right, its only HURST HURST HURST.
What is important is that hurst lady actually makes students understand that out of four options, how NCLEX lays a trap and student ends up picking wrong answers. I practised some questions with her course and during my review whatever wrong choices I had picked, the instructor knew beforehand that I would pick only those wrong choices which were trap. Through fun-loving anecdotes Hurst makes learning easy and concise in short period of time.

I'm taking the Hurst online review and studying from ExamCram PN for Qs only. Hurst is fun and easy for me to retain the info and i like how she would advice you "If you can say it, you can pass it". I like it cause its easy to comprehend IMO.

I just took the Hurst Review about one week ago. It was very entertaining and fun. I learn alot of information. You need to know the content in order to pass the exam. I have taken Kaplan and failed with 192 questions. I think if I knew the content better I probably would of passed.

How long will you have access to the videos online??
I took the live review. If you take the online course, you have access for three months.

I am a nurse now because of Hurst Review...I only had 75 questions and no math!! I had taken about 5 other review courses and they don't equate to Hurst Review...I love you Marlene Hurst!!

You need to decide for yourself how much you can afford to pay for review efforts and what is best for you. There are many people who are successful only using the Saunders Comprehensive Review. Try adding Linda LaCharity's book on prioritization as a start. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. If you feel you need a review course to get started, and can afford one, then go ahead. Best of luck.
