hello,

I am being asked to enroll in HPRP from a dui got 10 years ago. I wasn't working at the time and am still not working. What will evaluation consist of? Will I need to do a nail and hair test? Thanks for any info

What state are you in? I am in CA. I'm guessing HPRP may be similar to the Diversion program (alternative to discipline) we have here in CA. I am currently on Probation, which is similar to Diversion, but not entirely the same. I believe for Diversion evaluations, they evaluate your substance abuse potential, see if you're currently requiring treatment, and if so, what level, etc. For Diversion, you're typically enrolled into a drug testing program just like we do in Probation.

For Probation, we are tested anywhere from 4-6/month on average and it typically consists of just urine screenings. They tend to do blood 1-2x total throughout the duration of enrollment, unless one of your urine screenings is off, then they will likely test you more. Hair testing is possible, but unlikely, unless your urine test is off. This is what I know about Probation. Diversion is very similar, but like I said, it differs in certain aspects.

Thank you for response. I am in Michigan. I have decided I wanted to go back to work and school, if able with HPRP. I am on probation from the BON, one of the requirements is getting an HPRP evaluation. Does anyone know if the BON will have me do separate testing or will I only be tested through HPRP if the deem I need a monitoring agreement. My husband an I are currently unemployeed and I am concerned with cost of evaluation and testings etc. Also my hair is so fine, I'm scared to have a bald patch, LOL. I do have nails tho.

HPRP is very expensive. You have to pay for drug testing, addiction specialist, therapy, and attend AA/NA for 3 years. If your on probation for diversion it’s hard to get work. I’ve heard Divita is hprp friendly. The cost of the eval is $850.
