HPLRP for the Navy

I've been doing some research online and have learned that the Army and the Air Force have the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program availabe for practicing Nurses...this provides them with 120,000 dollars to pay back nursing school loans. I was wondering if anyone knew if the Navy also offered this to Nurses. Thanks :)

I was told by my recruiter that the Navy has a 38K loan repayment and a 20k bonus for a 5 year commitment. The health prof. loan payback is for doctors, PAs, pharmacist, etc.

The army does pay back up to 114,000 but remember all of this money is taxed!!!

But remember, the military currently is at the end of their fiscal year and does not have any money. Everyone has to wait until Oct and the current Congress to pass some budget. Then and only then will the military be able to really offer you any kind of financial package.

The army has the student loan repayment - which as stated above is up to 114k and then you get the remainder of taxes applied and deducted... the navy and air force has similar programs with varied amounts (not as high...). As stated above the military as a whole has new programs that start with the new fiscal year in OCT... It's not only money but the annual manpower needs - soo towards the end of the year if they have met requirements - then the need is not necessarily there.

good luck!

However, if you decide to enter the realm of psych nursing - you are eligible for the Army's HPSP:

FULL-TUITION SCHOLARSHIP PLUS A $20,000 SIGN-ON BONUS

The U.S. Army Medical Department can help take away the worry of how you'll pay for school. The F. Edward Hébert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) is available to qualifying students who wish to earn professional degrees from accredited medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, psychiatric nurse practitioner, clinical or counseling psychology programs. We will pay 100 percent of your tuition, plus we will also pay for required books, equipment and most academic fees. Qualifying medical and dental students are also eligible to receive a $20,000 sign-on bonus.
